AI Adoption Needs Change Management - Sat, Jun 6, 2026

Yep, that HR-esque department

Patience is a virtue, but isn’t a popular tool start-ups deploy for good reason.
Here’s the thing, I straddle the fence of “hurry up” and “slow-down” because of experience and academic study of (OCM) Organizational Change Management. When Linus Torvalds said, “AI is 90% marketing and 10% hype” it was an accurate description, but more so for those of us at the terminal.

The 40/10 ratio of executives discovering this is no surprise. In fact, they’re late to the party. Like anything embryonic and new, agentic AI requires time for mature development and will eventually yield a sustainable supply chain and predictive pricing.

So of course, the conversation has changed. Neither productivity or returns are as promised, because of marketing and valuations. In reality, the rubber on the road doesn’t run well without the driver who thought the vehicle would get him to his destination faster. He discovered the need to iterate and repair it in route, incurring additional sweat equity and cost along the way.

Sobering up requires a reassessment and different approach. Instead of ’token maxxing’, operational cost and technical debt should be considered in workflows. Invention is the mother of necessity.

This is prime time for shoring up human creativity and principles of organizational change management.
